Here’s a great speech from PJ O’Rourke that was delivered in 1993. It’s pretty funny and a good view of what government should be. Don’t worry it’s short and an easy read so check it out.

HetHack has turned 20 years old. Check out the info here at games @ /.
I remember jt.net hooking me up with this game many years ago. It was cool to get a pet and train it to do things. That and the ascii graphics made it awesome!

I know that most of us are going to get stressed out from family and gift-giving and all the ordeals that come with the holidays. So what better way to relax than to go on a island vacation in January. Sun, sea and relaxation…
The one problem is you overate and are so bloated that you’re afraid to show yourself in your bikini in front of young, viral, fit 20 somethings. Well, your prayers have been answered. You can go to Freedom Paradise Resort, a “size-friendly” resort. That’s right, fat people welcome!
The best part is that you probably look skinnier than most of the guests. A major bonus!

I’m sick of the controversy regarding steroids and baseball. As long as there are controlled and banned substances, there are going to be people who try to cheat the system and get an advantage. I got a solution, let them juice all they want.
I know people don’t want to think about it and believe it would ruin the integrity of the game. Bullcrap! Pete Rose, the Black Sox, blah blah blah. There have been plenty of problems in the past and there will be more in the future. If you let them juice, then anybody who’s willing to subject themselves to the latest lab experiment can do so. It will be out in the open and nobody will mind. Actually, if you gave everybody tests consistently maybe there would be a stigma behind using them.
I’m just wondering why everyone is so worried about “the game”. It’s meant for the fans and if these freaks want to take drugs to make themselves better than why not? They are adults and should be able to make these choices.
I’m expecting the “bad role-model” argument to pop-up.

Ok, check out this site called 43 folders.
I remembered it because the blizzogmentioned in a recent post about getting organized and so forth. The site has all sorts of info and tips on doing just that. Now, I’m not very organized but I like learning tricks anyways.
While I’m at it, you might as well check out Change This! Another cool website but with a diverse field of information. Most of it is laid out in short, easy to read essays on anything from software development to culture to politics.
Enjoy!

Tonight, Tom Brokaw will be signing off from his anchor position at NBC Nightly News. Big deal! Network news is dead and he saw this as a great time to get out. sure, it will be around for a long time but the viewership is small these days. With so many other forms of news media, people now have a choice.
Even when people watched how could they trust the networks especially with the recent fiascos with Dan Rather and CBS news. People are going to go elsewhere to make sure they here all angles. I think that’s a good thing.
Tom was good but even he knew when to get out. Maybe the rest of us should also.
