March 2005

Last night my Brother, Sister-in-law (Gail) and their kids stopped by on the way to Baltimore and stayed the night.

Gail and I were talking about music and art and she was telling me about how she had been writing poetry for a long time. I said that I’d like to read some of it sometime and she obliged by jotting down one she could remember. Here it is:

Should you miss me
find the ocean
breach the causeway
reach the sea.
Brush past strands of finite grasses
throw the sand
beneath you feet
Let others know
remembered water.
Let others know,
that you’ve found me.

This morning we had “golf-ball sized” hail hit our area. It was pretty wild. It didn’t last long but it was very intense for the time that it lasted. Hope nobody got any damage to their property.

So, yesterday I was lamenting about how podcasting has jumped the shark because it’s been covered by our local newspaper. Well today, I sell out…

I’ve put together my first podcast. It’s unedited and unscripted and although it’s not great it’s out there. I kept it short so you guys wouldn’t be too bored by it. Anyway, here it is:

The very first wysicast!!

Dammit…just when I was thinking about doing some podcasting the N&O does a huge feature on it taking off. I’m totally uninspired now. This just sucks. I need to be quicker about this stuff.

Well, if any of you wannabees need to know about podcasting, here’s a link with some decent info: podcasting news.

P.S. Don’t listen to any of the “She Said, He Said” podcasts. I’d prefer the sharp stick…

Check out this great article by John Feinstein. He’s up Coach K’s butt (He grad-u-matated from Duke) but he is a great writer and this is a nice tribute to the Juice.

Ouch! Sarah Jessica Parker has been dropped by the Gap as the “face” of their ad campaign. I know there are some out there that worship her as the ultimate sex goddess but I still don’t get it. Heck, I don’t even know why they hired her in the first place.

And to add insult to injury, she was replaced by a virtually unkown teenage singer. Double Ouch!

Ok, I’m going to sound like a Geico commercial but I’ll gladly except the ridicule to help my friends and family save some payola.

Last week, D and I switched our auto insurance (and soon to be property insurance) to Liberty Mutual. We went through local agent Bryce Williams. He was great and was able to save us over $450 on just the car insurance. That rocks!

You can find his info here. It only takes a few minutes to call and see what he can do for you. College graduates get an even bigger discount. He may not be able to save you as much as we saved but he probably can do some good. Check it out.

ScootDawg looking out for my peeps

Molly Hatchet lead singer Danny Joe Brown died today at age 53. I guess he was hangin’ with the “Whiskey Man” a little too much…

It’s March Madness time so what does that mean? That’s right, a thousand commercials with Dickie V impersonators (bad impersonators at that) trying to convince you to buy their product. God, it’s awful. It has the opposite effect on me but they continue to do it. So it must work, right? That’s kind of scary to ponder. Please, stop the madness…

So, I ran across this article at CNN “U2 Headlines 2005 Rock Hall” and thought that we might be in for a rant from our favorite curmudgeon and U2 hater.

Hate on, yo!
