May 2005

Just wanted to post a quick hey to everyone and hope they had a good Memorial Day.

I went to my Brother’s in Charlotte and spent time with my niece and nephew. They’ve really grown up quite a bit and it was really good to see them.

We went to a big shindig on Friday where a band was playing and on Saturday we went to a Charlotte Knights game where Frank Thomas hit a three run homer. He was undergoing rehabilitation for an injury and was assigned to the AAA affiliate while healing up.

We also watched the US lose to England in a friendly soccer match.

On Sunday, the events continued with a trip to the movie theater to see Star Wars. It had some great action scenes but in places the dialog was horrible. It was a fun movie all in all.

Cheers!

According to this article, researchers have found that wearing red is consistent with a higher probability of winning.

Yeah, tell that to us NC State fans…

Thanks to Tracermate for the link!

It looks like the trends in outsourcing are starting to slow down and companies are seeing that there really isn’t much of a cost savings. ZDNet has a short article on the data they’re starting to see.

The wysiblog would like to welcome, to this fine place we call earth, Davis Henry Turner who was born this morning at 7:29 AM and weighing in at 8 lbs 1 oz. Mom and son are doing fine but we’re still waiting on word from dad.

JT, I owe you a lawn mowing.

Scoot

Now I know what you’re thinking but this is really about a cat…a cat who’s owner was awarded $45k from it’s demise at the jaws of a neighboring dog. Poor kitty…

I just ran across this article on how a Sheriff in Pender County forced an employee to quit because she was living with her boyfriend. Seems that it’s illegal to cohabitate in North Carolina.

The law has been on the books since 1805 along with some other useful and helpful laws like this one here for paying taxes on your illegal drugs. This state is cool but man it’s weird sometimes. At least, it can claim to be the home of JT.net!

The G3 Beer Server

Way, cool!

There’s a been a whole lot of hoopla about steroids in sports. Most of the people claim that steroids are cheating because they give an unfair advantage. Well, now there are contacts that will help you hit pitches. How is this not cheating? What’s the difference?

Athletes will find new ways to get an edge so why the focus on steroids? I guess it just makes the powers-that-be feel good…

Ok, I admit that I’m a closet Imus fan. For the most part, his crotchety ol’ guy bit is a really just that, a bit. So, it was really funny to hear him go off on a former news reader.
