One of my lights at home had just burned out for the second time in a year. Its kind of a pain to change the bulbs since its a ceiling light and its hard to access the screws that open it up. Also, I didn’t have anymore light bulbs.
So I was at Lowe’s yesterday helpin’ Beth pick up some patio furniture for her new home. I had been thinking about giving Compact Flourescent Lightbulbs a try since they supposedly last years and over the life time save a bunch of cash. Gotta love that. So, I picked up a pack of 3 that were 15 watts that were to replace 60 watt bulbs. Great!
I get home and install them and was really, really excited….till I flipped the light on. Ugh. They put out almost no light. Very disheartening considering the expense and pain of disposal they will bring.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like them? If you readers have any advice, let me know because I’d love to use them for the single idea of the bulbs lasting for years.

Wow….
So, this morning Beth and I decided to do the MS Cup ‘N’ Cone ride starting out in Preston in Cary. We went all out and did the 67 mile route….yeah, that’s right 67 miles. For the first 15 miles it wasn’t too bad but then we hit these huge hills and some steep terrain for the next 15 miles. At that point, you hit the rest stop and turn around. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I was fine till about mile 53. At that point, I was wasted. I finished thought so I’m happy about that. Before today, my longest ride was 43 miles.
Right now? Its 10:00 on a Saturday and I’m just sitting on my couch watching TV and ready to pass out.
It was a great ride and I have the best partner to keep me in line!

there’s a cat in Providence Rhode Island who is very much like other cats. He eats, plays, sleeps, predicts people’s oncoming deaths, licks his butt….what? You mean cats don’t routinely determine who’s gonna die soon? Oh, Aunt Chloe’s gonna be relieved!
Well, turns out that a hospice care factility thought it would be a good idea to get a pet and so they brought in Oscar who routinely predicts when patients will be dead within 4 hours. Yep, a regular Cattus Mortus, so to speak. That’s “Death Cat” for you cretins out there…
I guess this is sort of interesting but what really threw me was this quote from the article:
“Oscar is better at predicting death than the people who work there, said Dr. Joan Teno of Brown University, who treats patients at the nursing home and is an expert on care for the terminally ill”
Is she serious? Hmm, remind my future non-existent kids to place me in a hospice center somewhere far from that one…Oh, and I know you got that Blue Oyster Cult song stuck in your head now. Sorry!

ok, I know I know…it plays games so obviously its supposed to be fun but I finally did something the other day that I’ve been too slack to attempt in the past. I networked my 360 to my home PC.
I thought this was gonna be a big pain in the ass but I went out to http://www.xbox.com/pcsetup and made sure I had the right version of XP and installed some software and bam! it was done.
Now, I can stream my music, videos and pictures straight to my kick-butt 50″ Sony HDTV. Its cool because if you wanna show someone pictures you don’t have to all gather around your office PC or break out a laptop. I can’t wait to show people slides of my last vacation!

Last night, I went to see the Carolina Railhawks defeat the MLS Chicago Fire in a 3rd round US Open Cup match. The final was 1-0 that had a lot of up and down attack and pressure.
Now, I know many of you don’t like football soccer but last nights game was a lot of fun. I have a lot of respect for the Railhawks coach who could have came out and packed it in for a boring defensive game with the hopes of getting lucky or going to a shootout. But he opted for a much more aggressive attack and it paid off. The team looked good and they kept the more talented Fire on their heels all night.
Great win for the Hawks!

Seems like the most popular tourist city in the world, Paris, is trying to revamp its image of arrogant and rude. So, Mayor Bertrand Delanoe has launched a campaign to change the hearts and minds of the tourists.
He’s asking service people to be friendlier and in return he wants tourists to try local shops and cafes versus just running down to McDonalds for an easy time.
Personally, I didn’t find Paris to be more arrogant or rude than any large northern US City. In fact, I felt it was quite easy, once you established a solid opening routine of admitting you’re just a stupid, slob American, to get Parisians to help. They would always give good directions and stop and talk for a moment.
I honestly think if you go there thinking that they’re rude, well that’s what you’re gonna get
